How Important The Semiconductors In Our Life?

What Is A Semiconductor And How It Has Become The Part Of Our Life?

The name semiconductor defines that it can conduct the electricity partially and also it is majorly done by the flow of electrons and holes in it.The invention of semiconductor has led the world to a great changes and we can see this in many of the fields and the major field is invention of a mobile phone later into a smart phone without which today world may feel dumb. The other major fields are in medicine, technology, payments,to carry data in the form of digital signal etc.The use of a semiconductor is to transmit the data in the form of a digital signal and the use of a digital signal is that it is easy to handle than that of analog signal.

Actually What Is There In A Semiconductor?

A semiconductor has a valence band and a conduction band and there are electrons in the valence band. When there is an increase in the external energy the electrons in the valence band jump to he conduction band and the vacancies created by the electrons in the valence band
are called as holes and they are assigned a positive charge but actually holes do not have any charge and we assume the vacancies to be holes. The movement of holes is taken as conventional current.Semiconductors play a vital role in the case of a computer. They are used to send information from the processor to the other components and vice versa. The digital signals are easy to transfer and they can carry good amount of information.

What Happens If We Use Conductors In Place Of Semi Conductors?

If we use a conductor in place of a semiconductor then as temperature rises the conductivity of the conductor decreases but for a semiconductor there is an increase in the conductivity when temperature increase.
